Gopichand P. Hinduja, Chairman of the globally renowned Hinduja Group, passed away at the age of 85. He breathed his last at a hospital in London, according to family members. Known affectionately as “GP” in business circles, Gopichand was the eldest among the Hinduja brothers and represented the second generation of the prestigious business family. After the demise of his elder brother Srichand Hinduja in May 2023, Gopichand took over as the Group Chairman, continuing the family’s legacy in global trade and industry.
Born in 1939, Gopichand completed his graduation from Jai Hind College, Mumbai, in 1959. The same year, he joined the family business and played a major role in strengthening Indo–Middle East trade operations.
He is survived by his wife Sunita, and sons Sanjay and Dheeraj, who are actively involved in the group’s business ventures.
