The Telangana High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the state government in connection with petitions filed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy seeking to quash four cases registered during the 2019 Huzurnagar by election. The court also served notices to the police and complainants, including Deputy EE P. Praveen Kumar, Survey Inspector M. Narendra, MCC-1 Dr. P. Pentayya, and Deputy EE M. Pawan Kumar. Justice K. Sujana adjourned the hearing to the 21st of this month and directed the respondents to file detailed counters.
The cases were registered against Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders, including N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct during a roadshow held in support of Congress candidate Padmavathi. The allegations include obstructing traffic, conducting large gatherings with around 500 people in Janapahad village, organizing a massive rally with nearly 10,000 participants and 500 vehicles in Huzurnagar town, and using DJs causing loud noise during a roadshow near Nereducharla. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the cases lack proper evidence and pointed out that similar charges against Uttam Kumar Reddy had already been quashed by the High Court.
