Former Minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government is attempting to target temples and mutts in Telangana. He visited Kokapet Neopolis following reports that revenue and police officials asked authorities at Visakha Sharada Peetham to vacate the premises. Speaking to the media, Harish Rao criticised the government’s actions and termed them as an attack on religious institutions.
He stated that during the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in 2019, two acres of land were legally allotted to the Peetham with cabinet approval. According to him, the management completed all formalities, including payments and permissions, before constructing the temple and associated facilities. Harish Rao asserted that his party would fight to protect the allocated land and prevent any demolition of the Rajashyamala temple.
