

A Superintending Engineer of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Podduturi Chinna Reddy, was caught red-handed by officials of the Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15 lakh to clear pending bills. According to ACB Rangareddy Range ACP Anand Kumar, the incident occurred on Wednesday at the Kukatpally zonal office. The accused officer allegedly demanded a total bribe of ₹30 lakh in two instalments from a contractor for releasing pending payments worth ₹1.40 crore related to desilting and maintenance works of lakes in Kukatpally, Musapet, and Alwal circles. Acting on instructions from the engineer, computer operator Balasani Praveen Kumar reportedly received the first instalment of ₹15 lakh from the contractor, following which ACB officials conducted the raid and apprehended both individuals.
The arrested officials were later produced before the ACB court in Nampally. ACB teams also conducted searches at the engineer’s residence in Pet Basheerabad and continued inspections until late night. The bureau reiterated its commitment to curbing corruption and ensuring transparency in public administration.
