Amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia, concerns are rising over a cooking gas shortage in several parts of India. In Vijayawada, a number of hotels and restaurants have temporarily shut down due to the limited availability of LPG cylinders. Some establishments have switched to traditional firewood stoves to continue operations, but restaurant owners say preparing certain dishes, especially starters, is difficult using such methods, leading to financial losses.
As uncertainty over the supply of additional LPG cylinders continues, consumers in several areas of the city are forming long queues at gas agencies to book their next cylinder. With many unsure whether a second cylinder will be supplied on time, the situation has triggered anxiety among both households and commercial establishments that depend heavily on cooking gas for daily operations.
