In a major development, four senior Maoist leaders surrendered before Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Shivdhar Reddy, sparking discussions that the Maoist movement may be nearing its end in the region. Tippiri Tirupati alias Devji (also known as Kumma Dada), Malla Rajireddy alias Sangram, Bade Chokkarao alias Damodar alias Jagan, and Noone Narsimha Reddy alias Ganganna surrendered before the police, marking a significant breakthrough in ongoing anti-insurgency operations. Officials believe the surrender reflects the growing impact of rehabilitation policies and intensified security measures across Maoist-affected areas.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged about the whereabouts of former Maoist chief Ganapathi alias Muppalla Lakshmana Rao, who has reportedly been battling serious health issues and is currently believed to be in Nepal. Telangana Police are said to be making efforts to bring him back to India, and officials believe that if Ganapathi also surrenders, it could signal the effective end of the Maoist era. Authorities noted that continuous combing operations, including Operation Kagar-2 along the Chhattisgarh–Telangana border, and recent encounters have significantly weakened Maoist leadership across the country.
