Cybercriminals have once again cast their net in Telangana. Urmila, wife of former CBI Joint Director VV Lakshminarayana, was reportedly defrauded after being lured by the promise of high returns in the stock market. The culprits, who contacted her via WhatsApp, convinced her to invest by sending fake trading tips and fabricated screenshots.
The fraud came to light when she tried to withdraw the money after seeing profits in her account, but was unable to do so. It is reported that the criminals swindled approximately Rs. 2.58 crore from her. Based on the victim's complaint, cybercrime police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
