Even towards the end of Karthika month, essential commodity prices continue to rise. Eggs and vegetable rates have surged significantly above normal market levels.
Last month, eggs sold for ₹5–₹6 per piece; now they are priced at ₹7–₹8.
A dozen eggs now costs up to ₹98.
Vegetable prices have reached ₹100–₹120 per kg, driven by local farmers and middlemen dynamics.
Despite lower consumption due to Karthika fasting and Ayyappa Deeksha, egg prices have increased sharply. Traders cite supply shortages as the main reason for the price hike.
