The Athletics Integrity Unit has raised serious concerns over the rising doping cases in India, stating that the country has now been moved from Category B to Category A. This shift places India among high risk nations, requiring stricter monitoring and enforcement of anti doping rules for athletes.
According to the unit, a majority of doping violations in India have been reported in athletics, and the current anti doping framework is not strong enough to address the issue effectively. The chairman, David Howman, pointed out the widespread availability of banned substances and steroids as a major concern, highlighting the need for stronger measures to control the problem.
