Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has written letters to leaders of political parties and Members of Parliament from the state, seeking their support for the Women’s Reservation ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ Constitutional Amendment Bill. He urged them to back the bill, which aims to provide 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies starting from the 2029 elections. Letters were sent to key leaders including Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, AP Congress president Y. S. Sharmila, BJP state president PVN Madhav, CPI leader G. Eswaraiah, and CPM leader V. Srinivasa Rao.
The Chief Minister described the introduction of the bill in Parliament on April 16 as a historic moment in Indian democracy. He emphasized that the initiative, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would strengthen women’s empowerment and contribute to the nation’s progress. He expressed confidence that true development can be achieved only when women’s participation increases in governance, administration, and legislative bodies, and called upon everyone to honor women’s power.
