The Chief Minister enquired in detail about the medical care being provided at the ground level. Officials informed the CM that the outbreak in Srikakulam city was reportedly triggered by road repair works, which led to contamination issues. A total of 65 people have been admitted to various hospitals in connection with the incident. Of them, eight have been discharged, while 55 patients are currently undergoing treatment.
According to officials, 30 patients are being treated at KIMS Hospital, 11 at GGH, six at GEMS, four at UPHC, one at Medicover, and three in other private hospitals. Among those receiving treatment at GEMS Hospital, two patients are said to be in critical condition and are currently on ventilator support. The remaining 53 patients are reported to be stable and under continuous medical supervision. The Chief Minister also sought details about the field-level survey being conducted in the city to assess the spread of the disease. As part of the survey, 79 additional individuals with symptoms of diarrhea were identified. However, doctors have stated that their condition is not serious and does not require hospitalization. They are being provided with necessary medicines and ORS packets at home, with continuous monitoring by health officials.
CM Chandrababu Naidu directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for all patients, with special attention to the two individuals on ventilator support. He emphasized the need for stringent preventive measures to curb further spread of the disease. The Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite chlorination of drinking water to prevent contamination and to focus on proper maintenance of drainage systems.
