Chicken shop owners across Telangana have decided to shut their shops from April 1. The decision was taken by the Chicken Shop Owners Association in protest against the policies of poultry companies. Shop owners say the margin given by poultry companies is not enough to run their businesses properly.
According to traders, the margin they receive has been reduced by about ₹20 compared to earlier rates. At the same time, the price of chicken in the market is increasing every day, but the profit given to retailers is going down. Currently, the price of chicken is around ₹360 to ₹370 per kilogram, but shop owners say they are not getting fair returns.
The traders have warned that if poultry companies do not increase the margin soon, they will stage large protests. They also said that continuing the business has become difficult under the current conditions, which is why they are planning to close their shops until the issue is resolved.
