At least 18 people were killed after a passenger bus fell into the Trishuli River in Nepal’s Dhading district. The bus was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu when it lost control and plunged off the Prithvi Highway early Monday morning. More than 45 passengers were reportedly on board at the time of the accident, and 28 others sustained injuries. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Rescue teams and police rushed to the spot and launched immediate relief operations. Among the deceased are reportedly one person from New Zealand and two women from Japan and the Netherlands. Authorities suspect overspeeding may have caused the tragic accident. An investigation is currently underway.
