In a significant development for rural governance, the Central Government has released the first installment of the 15th Finance Commission grants to Gram Panchayats in Telangana. An amount of ₹259.36 crore has been sanctioned by the Union Finance Ministry. The funds, which were stalled due to the delay in conducting local body elections, have now been cleared following the successful completion of the Gram Panchayat polls. While Telangana is expected to receive a total of approximately ₹3,000 crore in pending grants, the Centre has released this initial portion in the first phase. State Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka played a crucial role in securing these funds through consistent follow-ups and discussions with Union Ministry officials. Welcoming the move, Minister Seethakka expressed her gratitude and emphasized that these funds are vital for rural infrastructure and development. She further urged the Centre to expedite the release of the remaining pending installments to ensure uninterrupted progress in the villages.
