

US President Donald Trump participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 meeting held in Davos, Switzerland, where he made key remarks on India, US relations. Trump described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a close friend and expressed great respect for him.
Speaking to Indian news outlet Moneycontrol after his address, Trump said that a major trade deal between India and the United States is expected to be finalized soon. His comments have drawn significant attention amid ongoing bilateral trade discussions.
Currently, India,US bilateral trade stands at around $191 billion. Both countries aim to increase this figure to $500 billion by 2030 through the proposed trade agreement. Although higher tariffs earlier impacted Indian exports, Trump’s positive remarks at Davos have raised hopes of possible tariff relief.
