

A tragic incident occurred at the Banashancha manufacturing center in Vetlapalem, Samarlakota Mandal, East Godavari district. Twenty-four workers lost their lives as a result of the explosion. In response to the incident, the Andhra Pradesh government immediately constituted an inquiry committee. The committee is headed by Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department and IG Ravikrishna of Eagle, who have commenced the investigation.
According to government directives, the committee has been instructed to identify those responsible for the accident and submit a full report within a month. The explosion occurred on Sunday, February 28, while wafers were being manufactured, resulting in massive fires. Twenty-three workers were trapped in the flames and were burnt alive, while several others sustained serious injuries.
Due to the intensity of the blast, the bodies of the deceased could not be recovered immediately and were scattered into nearby crop fields. The incident has caused widespread panic among local residents and brought immense grief to the families of the victims.
