The bidding war to acquire Warner Bros Discovery has intensified. While Netflix had already reached an agreement to acquire the Hollywood giant, Paramount Skydance has now entered the race with a significantly higher takeover offer. The company officially filed its acquisition bid on Monday.
Paramount has proposed $108.4 billion (approximately ₹9.77 lakh crore) to buy Warner Bros Discovery, including the company’s debt valuation. This offer surpasses Netflix’s earlier deal valued at around ₹6.5 lakh crore.
Netflix’s interest is reportedly limited to Warner Bros’ Hollywood studio and streaming business. Paramount, however, aims to acquire the entire company. While Netflix offered $27.75 per share, Paramount has proposed $30 per share.
Experts believe this massive acquisition deal will undergo strict antitrust scrutiny. Meanwhile, Paramount alleges that Warner Bros Discovery is favouring Netflix in the sale process and not providing equal transparency.
