The Population Management Survey conducted in Andhra Pradesh has revealed a worrying rise in teenage pregnancies across the state. On average, 8.8 percent of teenage girls were reported to be pregnant, highlighting serious public health and social concerns that require immediate attention from policymakers and healthcare authorities.
The survey found the highest incidence in Kuppam Assembly constituency, represented by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, where teenage pregnancies stood at 14.9 percent. Districts such as Nellore, Palnadu, Prakasam, Anantapur, Bapatla, and Kurnool recorded over 12 percent teenage pregnancy rates. These findings were disclosed by Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur, who stressed the need for focused interventions and awareness programs.
