

The state government has given significant priority to the education sector in its latest budget. A total of ₹34,875 crore, which accounts for about 11 percent of the overall budget, has been earmarked for education.
Out of this, ₹32,308 crore has been allocated to school education. Compared to the previous financial year (2025–26), an additional ₹502.66 crore has been provided specifically for school education. A major portion of the expenditure in this segment will go towards salaries and allowances.
Higher education has been allocated ₹2,566.80 crore. Universities across the state will receive a combined amount of ₹1,232.26 crore for their functioning.
The government has also emphasized skill development for youth, allocating ₹1,231.91 crore to enhance employability opportunities.
Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, the central government contributes 60 percent of the funds, while the state provides the remaining 40 percent. The total combined allocation for this scheme is expected to be around ₹2,946 crore this year.
Additionally, ₹654 crore has been set aside as the state’s share for providing student kits to learners in government and aided schools.
Through these allocations, the government aims to strengthen the education system at multiple levels and support both academic and skill development initiatives.
