US President Donald Trump is planning to build a massive victory arch in Washington, D.C.. The proposal was released by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts on Friday. The project is being envisioned as part of celebrations marking 250 years of American independence. The arch will feature a 250-foot-tall winged statue, inspired by the Statue of Liberty, holding a torch and wearing a crown.
The structure will also include two eagle statues and four lion statues on either side, all coated in gold. It will be located between the Lincoln Memorial to the east and the Arlington National Cemetery to the west.
Once completed, the new structure is expected to overshadow the 99-foot-tall Lincoln Memorial. Trump stated on social media that the monument would become one of the most magnificent structures in the world and a major attraction for Washington, D.C.
