The USCIS has announced the completion of the H-1B visa lottery process for the fiscal year 2027. As per the fixed quota, a total of 85,000 applicants have been selected. The lottery process for both regular and advanced degree categories has also been finalized.
The selected applicants' details have been shared with their respective employers, who can now proceed with filing H-1B visa petitions. The filing process must be completed within 90 days starting from April 1. Applicants are required to use the newly released Form I-129 for submission. In the United States, IT companies and healthcare organizations largely depend on H-1B visas to hire skilled professionals, especially from India. Under the revised policy, selection is increasingly based on salary levels and skill sets. Higher priority is given to candidates with better pay and specialized expertise.
The US government believes that these changes will reduce misuse of visas and encourage companies to hire foreign professionals only when necessary.
