India celebrates 150 years of the legendary song “Vande Mataram”, the anthem that ignited the flame of freedom and unity during the country’s independence movement.
Across the nation, tributes poured in from leaders including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and various Chief Ministers, remembering the national heroes who fought for freedom.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy urged citizens to rededicate themselves to the spirit of unity and nation-building, inspired by Vande Mataram. Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan also paid their respects, with Pawan emphasizing, “It is our duty to pass on the spirit of Vande Mataram to future generations.”
Penned in 1875 by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, the song became the heartbeat of India’s freedom struggle — a call that united the nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. So powerful was the chant “Vande Mataram” that it once struck fear into British rulers.
Even today, the song continues to fill every Indian heart with pride and patriotism.
Jai Hind! Vande Mataram!
