Star hero Suriya is reportedly adopting a new strategy in his career by focusing on content-driven films that can be completed within shorter schedules and controlled budgets. After dedicating several years to large-scale projects such as Kanguva, the actor is now looking to maintain a steady flow of theatrical releases. The approach is attracting attention across the South Indian film industry, as a regular release schedule could benefit producers, distributors and exhibitors by reducing long production gaps. The strategy is being viewed as a potential win-win approach for all stakeholders while allowing Suriya to explore varied subjects and characters.
Suriya has three films lined up for theatrical release in 2026. Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, is a rural action drama that released in May. Vishwanath & Sons, helmed by Venky Atluri, is an emotional family entertainer that arrived in August. The third release is SCENE, an action-comedy/cop drama directed by Jithu Madhavan, known for Aavesham. The film is scheduled to release on November 6 as a Diwali special. If the schedule remains unchanged, three Suriya films reaching theatres in a single calendar year would mark a notable phase in the actor’s career.
