The song “Sarke Chunaar Teri Sarke” from the film KD: The Devil, directed by Prem, has sparked controversy. In this regard, the National Commission for Women (NCW) issued summons to actress Nora Fatehi and actor Sanjay Dutt, directing them to appear for an inquiry. However, the Commission expressed dissatisfaction as Nora Fatehi did not appear in person for the hearing held on the 6th of this month, and was instead represented by her lawyer. The NCW has instructed her to appear personally and has given her time until the 27th of this month. Sanjay Dutt has also been asked to appear mandatorily on the 8th of this month. Meanwhile, lyricist Rakeeb Alam, director Prem and the producers have already issued written apologies and the song has been removed from YouTube.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar stated that the lyrics of the song are objectionable and derogatory towards women. She warned the film team that claiming ignorance of the meaning of the lyrics is not acceptable. Responding to the controversy, director Prem clarified that the song was created purely for entertainment purposes and that there was no intention to offend anyone. The film, starring Dhruva Sarja in the lead role, also features Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt in key roles. The movie is scheduled for release on the 30th of this month.
