South India’s ‘Natural Star’ Sai Pallavi has carved a unique identity by choosing meaningful roles over commercial templates. Refusing to be driven by remuneration or image pressures, she has consistently prioritized strong storytelling, earning immense respect and a loyal fan base. Bollywood filmmakers had long been keen to collaborate with her, and after turning down several offers, she finally gave her nod to projects like Ramayan and Ek Din.
Her much-anticipated Bollywood debut Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and backed by Aamir Khan’s production, was expected to be a safe and successful venture. However, the film opened to disappointing reviews and poor word of mouth from its very first show. As per trade reports, the film managed to collect only ₹1.37 crore net on its opening day, with collections dipping further over the next two days. Overseas performance also remained weak, making Ek Din an underwhelming debut for Sai Pallavi in Hindi cinema.
