Arnold Vosloo, best known for playing Imhotep in The Mummy franchise, made his Tollywood debut with Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. In a recent media interaction, the South African actor spoke about his love for Hyderabad biryani and revealed that mutton biryani is his absolute favourite. Having grown up in South Africa, Vosloo said he was accustomed to eating lamb, which remains his preferred meat over chicken and beef. However, his experience with Hyderabad’s spicy biryani turned into a memorable and amusing incident during the shooting of Ranabaali.
Recalling the incident, Vosloo said he was served biryani on the sets and asked the chef how spicy it was. The chef reportedly assured him that it was mild, rating the spice level at just four out of ten. Trusting the chef’s words, Vosloo took a bite, only to find the heat far more intense than he had expected. His gums began burning, and he started sweating, prompting him to ask for milk, beer or anything cold to cool down. He humorously remarked that, as a white man from South Africa, even a spice level of 1.5 out of 10 would be enough for him. His candid and entertaining account has added a fun touch to his Ranabaali experience. Whether Vosloo will appear in another Telugu film remains unknown, and fans will have to wait for an official announcement.
