In the last five years, Keerthy Suresh has been one of the leading actresses in South India to take up lady-oriented films. After earning immense acclaim and a blockbuster success with Mahanati, she went on to do women-centric films like Penguin, Miss India, Saani Kaayidham, Good Luck Sakhi, and Raghu Thatha. However, none of these films could impress the audience. Some were released directly on OTT with mixed response, while the others disappointed in theatres. Her latest release, Revolver Rita, also turned out to be a flop on the very first day, receiving negative reviews in both Telugu and Tamil.
Apart from the weak content, the film struggled due to the lack of pre-release buzz and extremely poor advance bookings, especially in cities like Hyderabad. Many theatres had to cancel morning shows due to negligible audiences, and the negative talk ensured that later shows also faced the same situation. While Keerthy has delivered hits like Dasara alongside star heroes, her lady-oriented films continue to underperform. Her comment about audience bias towards heroines also backfired, as the success of Mahanati itself proves otherwise. Given the current scenario, it seems wise for her to pause such films until stronger scripts and better marketing strategies come her way
