

The Hon'ble Governor of Telangana, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, opened the Telangana–North East Connect 2-Day Film Festival at Prasads IMAX in Hyderabad. The Governor outlined the initiative's larger goals, emphasizing that the festival is not just about cultural festivities but also aims to improve cooperation in fields like healthcare, IT, women's empowerment, creative arts, and youth involvement. He emphasized that the dynamic nature of Telangana and the cultural diversity of the Northeastern states provide excellent chances for mutual learning and long-term collaboration.
The Governor emphasized the importance of movies in fostering cross-cultural understanding by pointing out how well-liked Telugu films are throughout the Northeast, even in isolated tribal communities. Recognizing the expanding film industry in the area, he urged filmmakers from both sides to use the festival for technical cooperation, co-productions, and knowledge sharing. In addition, the Governor attended the premiere of Yarving, a Tripura film directed by Father Joseph, a National Award winner, and officially opened the festival's Media Center.
Twelve films from Tripura, Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Telangana including critically acclaimed Telugu films like Na Bangaru Thalli, Pottel, and Mallesham will be screened at the festival. The festival's goals and the cultural narratives, it promotes were previously explained by CH Priyanka, Commissioner of I&PR and MD of TGFDC. State ministers, officials, Dil Raju, Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation, filmmakers, and representatives from each of the eight North Eastern states attended the event.
