

Kollywood producer and AVM Productions head M. Saravanan (86) has passed away. He had been undergoing treatment for age-related health issues and multiple medical complications. He breathed his last at 3:30 AM on Thursday (December 4th) in Chennai, the family confirmed.
Under the iconic AVM banner, Saravanan produced over 300 films across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. In Telugu, he produced memorable films such as "Samsaram Oka Chadarangam", "Aa Okkati Adakku", "Merupu Kalalu", "Gemini" and "Sivaji." His death has plunged the film industry into grief. Just a day after celebrating his birthday, his passing has left an irreplaceable void in Indian cinema, with tributes pouring in from across the country. Colleagues recall his immense contributions to Tamil cinema in particular.
Saravanan was the son of legendary filmmaker A. V. Meiyappan, who founded the iconic AVM Studios in 1946. Following in his father’s footsteps, Saravanan took charge of AVM Productions and led its cinematic journey for several decades, producing classics in multiple languages. The family announced that his mortal remains will be kept for public viewing on Thursday(December 4th) until 3:30 PM on the third floor of AVM Studio.
