Amid the growing conflict between producers and exhibitors in the Telugu film industry over theatre revenue-sharing models, Annapurna Studios has issued an official statement emphasizing industry unity and adherence to the decisions of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. The dispute intensified after Telangana exhibitors demanded a percentage-based revenue-sharing model instead of the current rental system for single-screen theatres. The situation escalated further with warnings of theatre shutdowns at a time when major releases like PEDDI are gearing up for release.
In its statement, Annapurna Studios clarified that its distribution division will continue to follow the guidelines and decisions taken by the Telugu Film Chamber, maintaining the same policy it has followed for years. Without directly supporting either exhibitors or producers, the studio adopted a neutral and responsible stand, indirectly urging both sides to resolve the issue amicably through the Chamber. Industry observers believe the statement from the prestigious Akkineni family-owned banner could help ease tensions and encourage constructive dialogue, especially when Tollywood is preparing for several high-budget releases worth over ₹1000 crore collectively.
