

The film Varanasi has become one of the most awaited projects in Indian cinema. This big-budget movie brings together Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu and ace director S.S. Rajamouli, creating massive excitement even before release. Since the title glimpse was released, expectations have grown rapidly, especially after Mahesh Babu’s intense “Rudra” look impressed audiences worldwide. It is clear that Varanasi is not a regular commercial film but a grand cinematic experience made on a global scale.
According to the latest buzz, Mahesh Babu will be seen in five different roles in this film, which has doubled the curiosity among fans. Reports say his main role is “Rudra”, a powerful, superhero-like character who plays a key part in the story. Actress Priyanka Chopra is said to be playing the female lead, Mandakini, whose role brings important twists to the narrative. Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran is expected to appear as the villain “Kumbha”, while senior actor Prakash Raj will play Mahesh Babu’s father. The story is set against the backdrop of Varanasi and is said to blend Hindu mythology with a time travel concept.
Recent leaks suggest that apart from Rudra, Mahesh Babu may also appear as Lord Rama and in a character inspired by Lord Shiva, along with two other important shades connected to major twists in the story. With music by Oscar-winner M.M. Keeravani and the involvement of top Hollywood technicians, the film promises world-class visuals, action and background score. Shooting is expected to be completed by 2026, with release planned for summer 2027. The budget is said to have crossed ₹1300 crore, making Varanasi one of the most ambitious Indian films ever.
