This year’s Diwali could witness an exciting box-office battle as two highly anticipated films are reportedly eyeing the festive season for their release. Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in prominent roles, has already generated enormous buzz. The film is being mounted on a grand scale and is expected to receive a pan-India release. With the makers reportedly planning promotional activities around the festive season, expectations are continuing to rise.
At the same time, Nayanthara’s Mahashakti is also reportedly being considered for a Diwali release. Directed by Sundar C, the film is said to be a sequel to Mookuthi Amman. Hip Hop Tamizha is composing the music, while Ishari K. Ganesh is producing the project. Although the two films belong to different genres and have contrasting backdrops, their possible simultaneous release during the festival season has sparked curiosity. The scale and pan-India appeal of Ramayana, combined with Nayanthara’s popularity and the devotional appeal of Mahashakti, could make this a closely watched box-office contest.
