Old Telugu songs continue to have strong demand, even among today’s generation. While many new songs, despite big budgets and famous singers, fade away within a year, songs made 40 to 50 years ago still enjoy great popularity. Their charm and emotional connection remain fresh even today.
Recently, a classic song from one of actor Rajasekhar’s old films was used in the movie K Ramp. Though the song was chosen mainly because the rights were available at a lower cost, it turned out to be a major highlight and gave a fresh twist to the film. Similarly, in the movie Mana Shankara Vara Prasad garu, the makers needed a love song with the same tune in three languages. Since Ilaiyaraaja was known for composing the same tune in multiple languages, his popular song “Sundari...Nenenae Nuvvanta” was selected. A few more old songs were also used at different points in the film.
It is reported that the makers had to pay a significant amount to audio companies to include these classic song bits, with reports suggesting that nearly one crore rupees was spent in total just for using short portions of the songs. However, the investment paid off well. The old song bits became a big plus for the film, especially scenes where Venky dances to “Ramma Chilakamma”, which received loud cheers from audiences.
