Xi Jinping to Visit India After Seven Years.. Key Meet with Modi

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit India after nearly seven years to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Saturday and Sunday. Russian President Vladimir Putin and several other world leaders are also expected to participate in the summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold separate bilateral meetings with Xi and Putin. India, which is chairing BRICS, is hosting the summit amid major global developments, including the West Asia conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war.

Xi last visited India in 2019, making his upcoming trip significant for bilateral ties between the two Asian powers. The Modi-Xi meeting is expected to focus on border issues and other bilateral concerns. The BRICS summit will discuss global governance, reforms in international financial institutions, trade and investment, science and technology cooperation and climate change. Delhi has stepped up security for the summit, deploying around 15,000 police personnel, 200 paramilitary companies and nearly 500 CCTV cameras.
