

The Central Government has announced a major infrastructure project for Andhra Pradesh’s capital city, Amaravati. The Union Cabinet has approved the CPWD proposal for the construction of a Central Secretariat complex at an estimated cost of ₹2,534 crore. The project is expected to strengthen the administrative presence of central government departments in the capital region.
Of the total allocation, ₹1,299.08 crore will be spent on the Common Central Secretariat building, while ₹1,234.91 crore has been earmarked for residential complexes for central government employees. The CRDA has already allotted 22.53 acres of land for the project, including 5.53 acres for the Secretariat and 17 acres for housing facilities. The project is expected to accelerate Amaravati’s growth as an administrative hub.
