Turkish Airlines Suspends Flights to Iran

International air connectivity to Iran is coming under increasing pressure amid tighter US sanctions. Turkish Airlines has suspended flights to and from Iran, with the airline currently showing no services to the country until at least March 2027, according to a company representative. Turkish carriers AJet and Pegasus have also suspended or removed Iran services from their schedules, according to recent reports.

The disruptions follow sweeping US sanctions targeting Iran’s aviation sector. On September 8, the US Treasury Department sanctioned 36 targets, including 27 Iranian airlines, as part of its measures against Iran’s aviation industry. The sanctions have also increased the risks for foreign companies providing services such as fuel, ground handling and ticketing to sanctioned Iranian carriers. The developments are expected to further restrict Iran’s international air connectivity.
