US President Donald Trump has rejected calls for strict regulations to curb the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said negative forces were fueling fears about the technology and described such concerns as exaggerated. Trump stressed that the United States must maintain its lead over China in AI and continue to remain the world’s most advanced country in the field.
Speaking to reporters while travelling to Ireland, Trump said the US was currently ahead of China in AI and should maintain that position. “Whoever wins in AI will have the victory,” he said. Responding to a question on whether tougher regulations were necessary, Trump opposed excessive restrictions but said protective measures could be considered to address potential risks.
