Trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday after receiving treatment for two days following an alleged suicide attempt. The incident came in the wake of a case registered against him based on allegations made by a woman trainee IPS officer. Police have recovered a suicide note believed to be written by Uday and are likely to record his statement after his recovery.
Meanwhile, Uday Krishna Reddy has approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him. The High Court scheduled the hearing for July 27 but declined to grant interim protection from further action until then. In a parallel development, the investigation into the case has been transferred to the Women Safety Wing, with the She Teams taking over the probe under the supervision of DCP Lavanya Nayak Jadhav. The woman trainee IPS officer’s statement is expected to be recorded at the National Police Academy.
