Train services were severely disrupted near Dakshineswar Railway Station in Kolkata after an overhead high-tension electric wire snapped on Wednesday. The live wire, carrying around 11,000 to 25,000 volts, fell near a train coach, producing intense sparks and causing panic among passengers.
The incident halted train movement on both up and down lines, affecting the busy Sealdah Main and Bangaon routes and leaving hundreds stranded. Videos of the घटना went viral on social media. Railway officials disconnected power supply and began repair work. No casualties were reported, and an investigation is underway.
