Three Principles of Success - Ajit Doval’s Advice to IIT Students

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval urged students to take inspiration from Lord Rama and move forward with courage, clarity and determination. Addressing the convocation at IIT Roorkee in Uttarakhand as the chief guest, Doval said that Sage Vishwamitra chose Rama for the task of defeating the demons because of his courage and valour. He said India is witnessing transformative changes and is moving towards a promising future. Referring to the period leading up to 2047 as the country’s ‘Amrit Kaal’, Doval spoke about India’s development trajectory.

Doval also shared experiences from the early years of his career, recalling his posting in Sikkim. He said he learned three principles of success from a mountain guide there. The first is to understand where you currently stand, the second is to know where you want to go with a clearly defined goal, and the third is to know how to reach the destination and return safely. According to Doval, these three principles can serve as a practical guide to achieving success in life.
