Tamil Nadu Metro Rail has introduced a new regulation to ensure a quieter and more comfortable travel experience for passengers. Under the new rule, commuters who play music, videos, or any audio loudly through their mobile phone speakers inside metro trains may face a fine of up to ₹2,500. The initiative is aimed at minimizing unnecessary noise and promoting courteous behaviour among passengers.
Metro authorities stated that with thousands of commuters using the service daily, loud audio from mobile devices often disturbs fellow passengers. Officials have advised travellers to use earphones while listening to music or watching videos. The new rule is expected to improve the overall travel experience and encourage passengers to respect the comfort and privacy of others.
