Tensions have sharply escalated in the Gulf region as Iran launched missiles, drones, and small boat attacks. UAE air defence systems intercepted 12 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 4 drones. Several injuries have been reported, while a workers’ residential building in Oman’s Musandam governorate was damaged, leaving two foreign nationals injured. The European Union and Saudi Arabia have condemned the attacks, and the UAE has temporarily suspended flights amid security concerns.
In the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian forces reportedly targeted US-protected vessels, though US Central Command confirmed its ships remain safe. A South Korean commercial vessel was damaged in the attacks, while hundreds of ships remain stranded in the region. US President Donald Trump warned Iran of severe consequences, stating those responsible could be “wiped off the map,” while also noting that military operations appear to have ended. Iran, however, denied responsibility for the UAE attack and called for a political solution instead of military escalation.
