Telugu States’ Water Dispute Remains Unresolved After Delhi Meeting

The long-standing water dispute between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh remained unresolved following a meeting of officials from both states in Delhi to discuss pending water-sharing issues. Telangana officials attended the meeting without a fixed agenda, while Andhra Pradesh raised objections to around 30–50 projects in Telangana. The objections reportedly included the Kaleshwaram, Palamuru-Rangareddy and Sitarama projects.

Andhra Pradesh also sought an end to power generation by Telangana at the Srisailam project and demanded that water availability in the Godavari basin be assessed. The Central Water Commission (CWC) is expected to prepare the agenda based on the issues raised by both states. Another CWC meeting is likely to be held within the next 10–15 days to take the discussions forward.
