Fake WhatsApp Channel Using Deputy CM Office Name Draws Official Warning

The Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister’s Office has issued an official warning over a fake WhatsApp channel operating under the name “Deputy CMO, Andhra Pradesh.” The office clarified that the channel is not affiliated with it and alleged that its name and identity were being misused to mislead the public through misleading and unrelated content. It stated that impersonating an official government office and spreading false information would not be tolerated.

The office said that steps had already been initiated towards filing an FIR in connection with the matter and warned that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible. It urged the public not to trust or follow the fake channel or forward its content to others. People were advised to rely only on the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office’s officially recognised social media accounts and verified WhatsApp channel for authentic information and updates. The office reiterated that misuse of a government institution’s identity would invite legal consequences.
