Following the recent Supreme Court verdict, the Telangana government has initiated a detailed review of environmental clearances related to major irrigation projects in the state. A key meeting chaired by Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy will be held at the Secretariat to discuss environmental approvals, forest clearances, legal issues, and the impact of the court’s directions on ongoing projects.
Major projects including the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project, and Gouravelli Project will be reviewed individually. Officials will examine legal status, environmental impact assessments, forest and wildlife approvals, construction progress, and compliance with existing regulations. The government is also planning consultations with the central environment ministry and other authorities to resolve pending issues and ensure faster completion of irrigation projects.
