The Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department has introduced stricter guidelines regarding VIP darshan and mobile phone usage in temples across the state. Under the new directions, those seeking VIP darshan must inform the concerned temple authorities and obtain permission at least one day in advance. The move is aimed at ensuring that special visits do not inconvenience ordinary devotees and that temples have adequate time to make the necessary arrangements.
The department has also directed temple authorities to ensure that only VIPs and essential security and temple staff are allowed inside designated areas. Their movement should not cause inconvenience to devotees. In a separate order, the department instructed temples to strictly prohibit the use of mobile phones by devotees within temple premises. Photography, video recording, selfies and making reels should not be permitted as they could disturb the sanctity and spiritual atmosphere of the temples. Temple authorities have been asked to install prominent signboards informing devotees about the mobile phone restriction.
