Supreme Court Reviews SIT Report on Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Case

The Supreme Court on Monday reviewed the status report submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The SIT’s analysis of CCTV footage identified 105 alleged instances of donation theft, the court was informed. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said investigators had examined CCTV recordings, witness statements, donation records and other evidence to identify those allegedly involved. He told the bench that the investigation was nearing completion and that the chargesheet would be filed by September 25.

The developments were considered by a bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana. The court said the appropriate court could take action on the chargesheet in accordance with law. Meanwhile, retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, assumed charge on Monday. Before entering his newly established office on the Ram Temple premises, Mishra offered prayers at the temple.
