Supreme Court Hearing in Vote for Note Case

The Supreme Court continued hearing petitions filed by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah in the vote for note case. During the arguments, Revanth Reddy’s counsel contended that the Anti-Corruption Bureau does not have jurisdiction over the matter. The counsel argued that under the law applicable in 2015, giving a bribe was not an offence, and that the Prevention of Corruption Act was amended in 2018 to make giving a bribe an offence.

Revanth Reddy’s counsel also requested that the case be examined under the provisions of the election code. A three-judge bench headed by the Chief Justice of India heard the arguments at length. The hearing continued for around one and a half hours, with further arguments scheduled to continue in the afternoon.
