Supreme Court Dismisses Final Plea in Decades-Old Bofors Case

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the final pending petition related to the nearly four-decade-old Bofors case, effectively bringing one of India's longest-running legal battles to an end. The petition, filed by advocate K. Aggarwal, challenged the 2005 Delhi High Court judgment that had cleared the Hinduja brothers of all charges in the case.

A Bench comprising Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice K. Vinod Chandran rejected the plea after noting that the Delhi High Court's verdict had already attained finality. The court also pointed out that the CBI's appeal against the 2005 judgment had been dismissed earlier. Observing that there was no purpose in prolonging the proceedings any further, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition, bringing the decades-old Bofors litigation to its final conclusion.
