The Telangana government has taken a significant decision to prohibit mayonnaise prepared using raw eggs across the state. The ban covers its manufacturing, sale and storage for a period of one year. The government has issued a gazette notification stating that the restrictions came into effect on October 30. The move aims to safeguard public health and prevent food safety risks associated with the product.
Health authorities have raised concerns over the possibility of Salmonella bacterial contamination in raw egg-based mayonnaise, which can lead to food poisoning and related health complications. Following reports of food poisoning incidents, the government decided to impose the restriction as a precautionary measure. Businesses violating the ban may face strict action, including heavy penalties and cancellation of their licences.
